India has long been a very well served tea market. We have international as well as very strong regional and local players. Given the success MJIL has found in other markets, we felt that with long standing sourcing and blending expertise we should have a presence in our native market. Accordingly, we now have multiple brands across premium tea bags, packaged tea formats across black, green tea and herbal infusions. We are present in CTC, dust and fannings. We are the first to introduce iced brews here. Our recent success has fuelled our ambitions of growth & market share.
Our courage to seize opportunities in challenging markets has stood us in good stead. We entered the market in 1992, in the Far East and Siberia and are now amongst the top 5 brands in each market in some places in the top 2. While international leaders have struggled in these markets, we have held our own vs local brands. We even service much of our demand through local manufacturing and are the only tea packaging facility in Far East & Siberia. Our expertise across all types of tea means we address all segments of black tea, loose leaf and CTC that exist here and are present across all channels and formats.
Since the entry into the continent in 2019, MJIL has built up a presence in 20+ countries. It serves private label customers and has brought its leading consumer brands of Golden Victoria & Indus here. Our expertise in flavours has powered this rapid growth making us the leading player in tea bags in these markets. Our local manufacturing set up in Ghana has aided the process.
